Sabo

Sabo is part of the powerful military organization opposing the World Government called The Revolutionaries or the Revolutionary Army. He is the second most influential member of this movement after Monkey D. Dragon aka Dragon the Revolutionary (Luffy's father) who is precisely its leader.

Born into a family of nobles from the Kingdom of Goa located on the island of Dawn, Sabo is the son of Outlook III and Didit. He has an adoptive brother named Sterry who is the current king 🤴🏼 of the Kingdom of Goa. Additionally, he became the spiritual brother of Monkey D. Luffy and Portgas D. Ace after the three toasted together and exchanged their sake cups which represent the cup of brotherhood.

After he was believed to be dead when a Celestial Dragon blew up his ship, Sabo resurfaces in the Dressrosa Arc. He had come, among other things, to win the Mera Mera no Mi, the Devil Fruit of his late adoptive brother Ace, in the tournament organized in the Corrida Coliseum. Sabo Appearance

It's in a Luffy flashback that we meet Sabo when he was still a 10-year-old kid (same age as Ace in fact). At that time, you could see him with one tooth 🦷 missing and a plaster taped to his nose. Her hair is blonde, cut short and curly. On his head he had a large black top hat, on which he had placed a pair of blue glasses. He was still dressed in a blue jacket whose sleeves he rolled up as well as cyan blue shorts 🩳 held at his waist by a black belt. The latter has a metal buckle with a flower motif. Furthermore, despite never becoming a pirate like his spiritual brothers, Sabo was very determined to make his dream come true when he was still a kid. As a pirate, he planned to travel and visit the whole world to tell in a book 📖 the stories as well as the places he would see during his travels. And yet, in order to protect his spiritual brothers, he was willing to let go of this dream. Sabo indeed shows a lot of loyalty towards Luffy and Ace even to the point of accepting his father's conditions and living unhappy and alone in order to save them. Luffy even said that Sabo is nicer compared to Ace. He supported them, encouraged them and knew how to use diplomacy.

Furthermore, even though Sabo is of noble lineage, he does not consider himself superior to others and never behaves selfishly. Unlike other members of his family, 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 being a noble does not mean a special status for him. He did not see people who were not noble as beings who were inferior to him. On the contrary, he abhors his values. He sometimes regretted being born a noble and was even ashamed of it. Sabo vs. Fujitora

It is in the Dressrosa Arc in Chapter 751 of the manga, entitled Sabo against Admiral Fujitora, and in episode 687 of the anime, with the title "A big clash! The leader of the Sabo team against the 'Admiral Fujitora' , which began the confrontation between the blind Admiral 👮🏼‍♂️ and the number 2 of the Revolutionary Army. It followed the fight between the latter and Vice-Admiral Bastille as well as several soldiers of the Navy and which resulted in the easy and rapid victory of the revolutionary. An exchange then followed between the two characters, during which Sabo revealed to the Admiral that he is the spiritual brother of Ace and Luffy. He continued by telling him that if the latter ever calls him for help, he will come wherever he is in the world and no matter what he is doing because he no longer wants to relive the misfortune of the death of Ace. Admiral Fujitora then drew his saber ⚔️ while Sabo activated the pyrokinetic power of his Devil Fruit . And their confrontation began with a fiery attack from Sabo with his cane which the Admiral was able to easily block with his blade while the Marine soldiers who were around were thrown into the air.

Afterwards, the fight between Sabo and Fujitora intensified more and more, which surrounded the area with a barrier of fire. 🔥 However, the Blind Admiral was able to ward off each of the Revolutionary's subsequent attacks. Then, Issho tried to pin Sabo to the ground by manipulating gravity but he was able to escape by bursting into flames. The Admiral then continued by creating a black hole in the direction of Sabo but the latter used his Ryuusouken technique: Ryu no Ibuki in order to stop the evolution of the black hole. Sabo took advantage of the smoke screen 💨 caused by his technique to launch a new attack but his opponent was able to parry it again. After that, Admiral Fujitora asked Sabo to go more gently in his attacks since he was blind but Luffy's brother replied that he does not discriminate. Issho then unleashed horizontal gravity using a technique called Gravity Sword: Fierce Tiger . Despite the force of this gravity, Sabo was able to move by igniting himself and using fire to glide. He attacked again and his kick 🦶🏼 caused a huge explosion of fire that set the entire area on fire. And yet, Issho was able to block this attack with his blade. It was at this point that the Admiral told Sabo that if he truly wanted to bet this game against him, he must be prepared to pay a high price: his own life. This is how the fight ended without victory or defeat for either party.

Sabo vs. Jesus Burgess

This confrontation also took place in the Dressrosa Arc shortly after the fight between Sabo and Admiral Fujitora (between chapters 786 and 792 of the manga and between episodes 728 and 735 of the anime). Luffy found himself in a delicate situation after using all his resources with Gear Fourth to defeat Captain Corsair ☠️ Don Quixote Doflamingo . Exhausted, he needed a few minutes to recover his Haki. So he was at the mercy of his opponent and anyone else. Having noticed the failure of the Straw Hat Pirate, Jesus Burgess aka Champion wanted to take the opportunity to kill him and grab his Devil Fruit, the Gumo Gumi no Mi. An exchange then followed between Number 2 of the Revolutionary Army and the commander of the 1st fleet of the Blackbeard Pirates . Sabo revealed to him that Luffy and Ace are his brothers and that even if he does not want revenge for Ace's death, he will do anything to protect his other brother. He also revealed to him that he was the holder of the Mera Mera no Mi, which aroused Burgess's interest. Sabo's Abilities

When the three spiritual brothers were still children, Sabo had almost the same strength as Ace. As an adult, he took part in a major operation with the Revolutionary Army in Dressrosa while the Navy and the Don Quixote Family also participated. He notably took Luffy's place during the gladiator tournament 🤼‍♂️ which was held in the Corrida Colosseum or Coliseum Corrida and won the victory as well as the trophy, the Mera Mera no Mi. Note also that after Monkey D. Dragon, he is the second strongest member among the Revolutionaries, which proves his great strength. Sabo also possesses mastery of Busoshoku no Haki or Weaponry Haki . He was notably seen using this power in combination with his Ryu no Kagizume or Dragon's Claw technique to shatter Jesus Burgess' armor 🛡️ into thousands of pieces in the Corrida Colosseum arena. He also uses this Haki when using the Ryusoken. Note in passing that Sabo is particularly gifted in mastering this martial art which is based on the hands. It is also proven that Number 2 of the Revolutionary Army is also experienced in the use of Kenbunshoku no Haki or Observation Haki . He was seen using this Sensitive Fluid in episode 737 of the anime in order to dodge a burst of shots (he has never used it in the manga yet). Like when he was a child, Sabo still uses his weapon of choice, an iron pipe, when he fights but this weapon is now larger. Devil Fruit: Mera Mera no Mi

Thanks to his victory in the Corrida Coliseum, Sabo was able to win the Mera Mera no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit 💦👿 that previously belonged to his adoptive brother Portgas D. Ace. This Devil Fruit offers its user pyrokinetic powers, namely the ability to create fire, control it or even transform their body into fire according to their needs. He thus literally becomes a Fireman. His attacks linked to his Devil Fruit thus use fire as a basis and he tolerates even extreme heat very well. Character Origins

Sabo was born in the Kingdom of Goa, on the island of Dawn which is located in the East Blue sea zone . This is the reason why, at the age of 10, little Sabo made his parents believe that he was dead and escaped from the family home to join the Gray Terminal, a lawless zone having the appearance of a huge open-air public landfill 🗑️ where the rejects of society (outlaws, pirates and bandits) hide.

Luffy, Ace and Sabo

Some time after his arrival at Gray Terminal, he met Ace. Twelve years after his disappearance, Sabo reappeared in the Dressrosa Arc during the Corrida Coliseum tournament after he was infiltrated and interrupted a conversation between the Straw Hat Pirate 👒 and Bartolomeo aka the Crazy Rookie . Luffy didn't recognize him right away at first but then burst into tears when he understood while throwing himself into his arms. After a very emotional exchange between the two brothers, Luffy gave up his place in the tournament to Sabo so that he could win the Mera Mera no Mi and eat it. Once safe in the basement with Rebecca and his Revolutionary Army teammates Koala and Hack , he revealed the real reason for their presence in Dressrosa. Then, after saving the inhabitants of Dressrosa and freeing the prisoners from the Colosseum, he set out to find the storage location for Doflamingo's weapons.
